Arkansas' Men's Field Event and Multi-Event Coach Travis Geopfert has five jumpers and one multi-event athlete key to the Razorback's chances to repeat as NCAA team champions.  Before the NCAA meet he shared with us his group's preparations for the NCAA meet.
Our field-eventers are excited and ready for the NCAA Championships.  We have Raymond Higgs and Jarrion Lawson in the LJ.  Anthony May and Clive Pullen in the TJ.  May in the high jump and Andrew Irwin in the vault as well as Kevin Lazas in the heptathlon.  Leading up to this weekend we've kept things very simple and working on fine tuning small details. Our focus is on being healthy, rested, and ready to compete.
For the championship weekend we talked about being dialed in on their pre-meet. Get in, execute the plan and be done. They did that extremely well yesterday. On competition day we have a specific neuromuscular routine that we do early in the day. The guys all know exactly what to do and do a great job of getting themselves ready.
As for the actual competition that's what our guys do best...compete!  They are all confident and ready and expect to score points for the team. They know to expect the unexpected at championship meets. Nothing phases us.  They do a great job of focusing on the process of competing and letting the results come. At the end of the day regardless of results it's about a great attitude and great effort. I love coaching this group of guys because we can count on each and every one of them to give us their very best! As a coach you can't ask for anything more than that.
